What the table shows
The table below is calculated from the Nager.Date snapshot of each country when this site is built. It counts nationwide public holidays only. Regional holidays change the result, so open the regional pages for Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The best one-day bridge is the break with the most days off that costs a single leave day. The plan columns show the most days off you can reach with 5, 10 or 15 leave days when you combine several non-overlapping breaks.
Reading the numbers
Ascension Day is Thursday 6 May 2027 in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and France, so Friday 7 May is the shared bridge. In the Netherlands, King's Day on Tuesday 27 April adds a second one-day bridge: take Monday 26 April for 24 to 27 April.
Spain has an unusual 2027 candidate: Constitution Day (Monday 6 December) and the Immaculate Conception (Wednesday 8 December) leave only Tuesday 7 December between them, so one leave day gives five days off, 4 to 8 December.
In the United States, Veterans Day (Thursday 11 November) and Thanksgiving (Thursday 25 November) both create a Friday bridge. The United Kingdom has no one-day bridge with nationwide holidays only, because its bank holidays are already placed on Mondays and Fridays.
